Nelson Ghost Town was once a booming area with one of the most famous gold mines in all of southern Nevada.  The Techatticup Mine is still available for tours.  The area was booming in the 1880’s with more men living in Nelson than the rest of the Las Vegas area. The nearby Colorado River was full of steamboats cruising up and down the river.
